Norwegian levels A1–B2

What A1, A2, B1, and B2 mean in Way2Norway — and how to choose the right starting level.

Way2Norway covers CEFR levels A1 through B2 in one membership. You do not buy a separate product per level. Instead, you place yourself where the language feels challenging but understandable, then move up as listening and worksheets get easier. Free accounts can explore the trial module; full access unlocks the complete A1–B2 library from 109 kr/month.

Level map

  • A1 — Absolute beginners. Slow, clear dialogues; survival phrases; heavy subtitle support. Start here if Norwegian is new.
  • A2 — You recognise basic conversations and want more natural speed. Everyday topics deepen; worksheets push short writing.
  • B1 — You follow main ideas in real speech and want richer culture and news-style topics without drowning.
  • B2 — You want confident comprehension of longer dialogues and nuanced opinions before aiming higher outside the course.

Still unsure? Start one level easier than your ego suggests. Progress is faster when you understand 70–80% of a video than when you guess every third word. The beginners guide walks through the first weeks if you are at A1.

Exams and expectations

Way2Norway builds listening, vocabulary, and cultural fluency across these levels. It is not marketed as a dedicated Norskprøve crash course. If you have a fixed exam date, combine membership practice with an official exam syllabus or tutor as needed — and be honest about that goal when you plan your week.
