Last updated: 29 July 2026
Operated by Way2Norway AS
1. Who we are
The data controller for personal data processed through Way2Norway is Way2Norway AS.
For privacy questions or requests, contact us at teacher@way2norway.com. You may also reach our technical partner Renow AS at kontakt@renow.no.
2. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the marketing website at way2norway.com, the learning platform at app.way2norway.com, and related services operated by Way2Norway (together, the “Service”).
Renow AS helps operate and maintain the Service as a technical partner and may process personal data on our behalf as a processor.
3. Data we collect
Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect and process the following categories of personal data:
- Account data: name, email address, and authentication credentials (passwords are stored in hashed form by our authentication provider).
- Subscription and payment data: membership status, plan type, and billing-related identifiers. Payment card details are processed by our payment provider and are not stored by us.
- Usage data: pages and content you access, device/browser information, and basic technical logs needed to run and secure the Service.
- Support communications: messages you send us by email or other channels.
- Cookies and similar technologies: essential session and preference cookies (see “Cookies” below).
4. Why we process your data
We process personal data for the following purposes:
- To create and manage your account and provide access to learning content.
- To process subscriptions, payments, cancellations, and related billing communications.
- To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service.
- To respond to support requests and communicate service-related information.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
5. Legal bases
Where the EU/EEA General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the Norwegian Personal Data Act applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Contract: processing necessary to provide the Service you request (account, membership access, billing).
- Legitimate interests: operating a secure platform, preventing abuse, and improving the Service in ways that do not override your rights.
- Legal obligation: when we must retain or disclose data to meet applicable law.
- Consent: where required for optional processing (you may withdraw consent at any time).
6. Processors and sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data with service providers that process it on our instructions, including:
- Renow AS — technical development, hosting support, and platform operations.
- Authentication and database hosting providers used to run accounts and store Service data.
- Payment providers used to process subscriptions and billing.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers used to deliver the website and app.
We may also disclose personal data if required by law, to protect our rights or users, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or similar corporate transaction.
7. International transfers
Some of our providers may process data outside Norway or the EEA. Where that happens, we use appropriate safeguards required by applicable law, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms offered by the provider.
8. Retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes described above, including to provide the Service, maintain business and accounting records, resolve disputes, and meet legal requirements.
If you delete your account or ask us to erase your data, we will delete or anonymise personal data unless we must retain it for legal reasons (for example, billing records).
9. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data; to object to certain processing; and to data portability.
To exercise these rights, contact teacher@way2norway.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet) or your local supervisory authority.
11. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 16. If you believe we have collected personal data from a child without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
13. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page will change when we do. Continued use of the Service after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
